Letter to Parents
The graduate and undergraduate brotherhood of the Mu Pi Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta welcomes you to Virginia Commonwealth University. We are a chapter founded on the university’s campus in 2014 and have been active members of the university community ever since. The Mu Pi Chapter is home to a diverse and involved body of undergraduate brothers who adhere to our fundamental core values of Friendship, Knowledge, Service, Morality and Excellence.

The graduate brotherhood is comprised of nearly 300 brothers who all at one time have called Mu Pi their home at VCU. These graduate brothers continue to demonstrate great interest in the Mu Pi chapter and are always available to provide resources and support to the undergraduate leadership and brothers. I myself have often times provided insights and connections gained on my journey to acceptance at Medical School with younger brothers hoping to follow the same footsteps.

As a student organization at Virginia Commonwealth, we seek to develop our members to be the best men and leaders possible. With our emphasis on brotherhood, the our chapter focuses on support and encouragement both in and outside of the classroom. Through involvement and service in our community, the Mu Pi chapter becomes a “home away from home” for brothers from the time they accept their bids to well past their years in college. This chapter honestly becomes family, and even though they don't see you as much now that they're at college- know that they won't be too far from home.

Your son’s academic success is of the utmost importance, so we provide scholastic assistance in a variety of ways. We work with graduate brothers and our national educational foundation to provide support and resources for our brothers. At the link above in this page you'll find 2 different scholarships that award $6,500 annually- and we'll help you every step of the way.

Outside of the classroom, we encourage our members to pursue their favorite areas of interest, whether it is athletics, campus involvement, or other activities on or off campus. The development of each member is a priority. We aim to use our collective strength in service to the surrounding community.

We are a family at Mu Pi Fiji, and we want you to be comfortable and familiar with the Fraternity, since it will be your son’s second home while he is here at VCU. You can learn more about Phi Gamma Delta at www.phigam.org. And if you ever have any questions about the Fraternity, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Sincerely,
Zachary Hodgen
